One World Fair Report

The One World Fair was once again a really lovely and busy event, the hall looked bright and packed and very pretty, the vegetarian café was – thanks to all those who volunteered to cook and bake – a very tasty success, and the music from the Nick Gill Trio and the Sea Green Singers made the atmosphere even more festive.

A very big thank you to everyone who participated in preparing for the event and helping out on the day – in particular a special note for everyone helping out in the kitchen and having to cope with plumbing issues as well as all the dishes! The event raised £1795, which was quite close to last year’s figure, even though we were slightly down on attendance, based on the number of tickets handed out at the door. Next year we hope to publicise the event even more, which should help keep the numbers up.

Jan and Tim Treacher will be standing down from the OWF committee next year. A huge thanks to them for all the work they’ve done over the years for this workgroup, and for chairing once again this year. Next year Naveed Chaudhri will chair the committee. We are also hoping to get some new helpers on board to be involved with the preparation of the event in the months leading up to it – the more the merrier!
